چکیده

In this paper, we present a method for fast liftingbased simulations of continuous-time (CT) Sigma Delta (Σ∆) modulators with arbitrary input signal waveforms. Our approach allows for a very time-efficient simulation of important modulator parameters such as inter-modulation distortion, the response to a spread spectrum input or blocker signals, and evaluation of its signal transfer function. The proposed method exploits the fact that every finite length CT signal can be decomposed into a sum of sinusoidal signals by providing a computationally efficient algorithm which allows for a lifting based simulation of CT Σ∆ modulators for an input signal consisting of an arbitrary number of sinusoidal signals. Matlab based simulations demonstrate the validity of our approach and show that despite the increased complexity compared to ordinary lifting, the speed advantage over CT-simulations in Simulink is preserved.

Time-Mode Signal Quantization for Use in Sigma-Delta Modulators

The rapid scaling in modern CMOS technology has motivated the researchers to design new analog-to-digital converter (ADC) architectures that can properly work in lower supply voltage. An exchanging the data quantization procedure from the amplitude to the time domain, can be a promising alternative well adapt with the technology scaling. This paper is going to review the recent development in t...

Opamp gain compensation technique for continuous-time ΣΔ modulators

ELECT A new method that compensates for the low DC gain of nanometre operational amplifiers (opamps) used for high-speed continuous-time (CT) ΣΔ modulators is described. The proposed solution compensates for the integrator’s phase error which is a main limitation produced by the low opamp’s gain. The method uses a simple auxiliary gain stage and a resistor. Simulations of a second-order CT ΣΔ m...

Time-domain equivalent design of continuous-time ΣΔ modulators

A new design approach operating in the time domain for the design of Continuous-Time (CT) Σ∆ modulators is presented. The method obtains CT modulators that are exactly equivalent to Sampled-Time (SD) counterpart without any constraint on the shape of feedback DACs responses. The procedure is suitable and powerful for transistor-level studies because design can be performed directly using circui...
